Canon announced a new lineup of six affordable eco-friendly LCD multimedia projectors yesterday including two projectors with WXGA resolution (1280 x 800) and four projectors with XGA resolution (1024 x 768). The new lineup consists of the Canon LV-8310, LV-8215, LV-7385, LV-7380, LV-7285 and LV-7280 – all of which are ideal for educational and business environments.

On the environmental-friendly side of the equation, the new projectors feature:

  • Improved Lamp Lighting System to reduce power consumption and CO2 emissions by operating the lamp at a lower wattage (without reducing lamp intensity). This also extends the lamp life up to 4,000 hours in Normal Mode and 5,000 hours in Quiet Mode.
  • Carbon Reduction Meter calculates and displays the amount of CO2 emissions reduced from operating in Quiet Mode.
  • Auto Energy Saver automatically switches projector to Quiet Mode when no input signal is received for one minute – saves energy and extends the life of the lamp
  • Power-Saving Stand-By Mode to help reduce overall power consumption to less than 1W

Here are some specifics to the new projectors:

  • 3000 lumens
  • MSRP of $1199

HDP1100_1200

Knoll Systems are out with two new HD projectors which they claim are ready to use, right out of the box – no need to fuss around with settings or deal with contemplated setup issues before installing. The new projectors are the HDP1100 and the HDP1200 – both models designed from the ground up by Kevin Knoll and the Knoll System’s team.

The projectors have been “pre-tweaked” at the factory to Kevin Knoll’s specifications for “colorimetry, accuracy, grey scale performance, etc” so they’re “out-of-the-box beautiful”.

infocus logo InFocus announced today that they are entering into a definitive merger agreement with Image Holdings Corporation (IHC) for a price of $0.95 per share or $39 million dollars in total. This represents a 36% premium over the April 9th closing price of $0.70 and a 90% premium over the last 30 day average for the company stock. IHC is an Oregon company controlled by John Hui – the co-founder of eMachines.

John Hui had this to say:

I am very excited to become involved with InFocus and to assist in further positioning the company for its long term potential. I associate significant value with the InFocus brand and with the company’s extensive network of channel partners. I look forward to working with InFocus management and building on the company’s innovative history and product leadership to return the company to a dominant position in the industry.”

It’s a guessing game whether this sale will ultimately help InFocus’s position in the marketplace. It’s a tough market out there with plenty of competitors all vying for a shrinking pool of buyers.

BTW – anyone else shocked at how low InFocus was worth on paper?? Ouch.
