Targeting digital imaging professionals and enthusiasts, JVC announces their latest full HD LCD TV monitor – the 42 inch LT-42WX70. What makes this display ideal for digital imaging folks out there? It’s all in the colors. According to JVC, the LT-42WX70 provides accurate reproductions of “both video and still photographs”. Making this possible is the displays support for a much wider color gamut than it typically found in today’s HDTV sets. The super slim display supports 100 percent of the HDTV broadcasting (sRGB.904) color space and 96 percent of the Adobe RGB color space. Not too shabby for an LCD display eh?

Other features of the JVC LT-42WX70 include the following:

52 picture quality adjustment properties

GENESSA Picture Engine

Color modes include Wide (the TV’s color space), Normal (ITU-R BT.709; HDTV standards), x.v.Color (xvYCC extended gamut), sRGB (same primaries as HDTV) and Adobe RGB.

Real Bit Driver processes in 12-bit, and so up-converts 8-bit HD broadcasting and DVD signals or 10-bit Blu-ray signals into 12-bit Deep Color signals

120Hz Clear Motion Drive III reduces blurring

3D real time, motion-estimated Hadamard noise reduction

Curved pedestal-style stand which you can dock a separate available tuner

The low profile tuner can be placed either horizontally or vertically, or hung on the wall

ENERGY STAR 3.0 rating

Three HDMI CEC terminals

D-Sub 15 with component video, and an audio input jack

The JVC LT-42WX70 will be available in April – no word on pricing as of yet.

Sony’s new 11 inch OLED TV (XEL-1) is now available for purchase at the SonyStyle website. Things you need to know about the new “Organic Panel” TV – it measures 11 inches diagonally; it’s incredibly beautiful; and.. it’s incredibly expensive at $2499.99. Yes.. you read me correct – $2499.99.

AND.. I’m not kidding when I say this display is beautiful. Actually it’s gorgeous. We saw the displays at CES 2009 and colors absolutely pop out from the display. If they were only cheaper and larger..

Here’s the lowdown on the specs:

Measures 3mm thin

1,000,000:1 contrast ratio

Sony Super Top Emission technology intensifies brightness and efficiency

105 percent of the NTSC color space

Fast response time

High brightness

Consumes 40 percent less power than conventional 20 inch LCD panels

960 x 540 resolution with the same pixel density as a 40 inch 1080p LCD TV

Dolby Digital support

1 optical audio input, 2 HDMI inputs with support for 1080p/60, 1 RF connector

Memory Stick media slot

Yup – a very sweet display indeed. However, let’s be real for a second here. Despite the gorgeous screen, we certainly can’t recommend this display to anyone right now – simply because the price is just way too high (unless of course money is no object to you). Give it a few years though. OLED displays will slowly come down to earth as manufacturers figure out how to make larger displays at lower costs.

I’ll end things off with pictures that we took of the display at CES 2009. Again – these stills don’t fully express how beautiful the panels really are. OLEDs are our future!

I’ve never truly been wow’d by 3D displays but ViewSonic has something cool up their sleeves with their new FuHzion 120Hz display – the 22 inch VX2265wm. With a 120Hz frame rate and a 3ms video response time, the VX2265wm delivers a great flicker-free experience – whether you’re playing games or watching video in 2D or 3D. Couple the system with the NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit and you’ll certainly be amazed by what this monitor can deliver – even if the game isn’t necessarily 3D enabled.

I usually get slightly nauseous when viewing 3D displays but this new ViewSonic display is certainly something special. Other specs to the VX2265wm include:

1680 x 1050 resolution

Dual link DVI-D and analog VGA inputs

OnView controls

SRS WOW HD sound

High quality stereo speakers

Windows Vista certified

1000:1 contrast ratio

300 cd/m2 brightness

price of around $349

Oh yes – ViewSonic also has a 3D capable projector called the PJD6220-3D. You can use the same 3D glasses with this bad boy too. The projector will go for around $1799.
