samsung spinpoint mt2

Samsung announces today it has begun shipments of their new 1 terabyte Spinpoint MT2 2.5 inch notebook hard drives. The new drive features three 333GB platters, 8MB buffer, 5400 RPM speeds, SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, Native Command Queue functionality, and Samsung’s SilentSeek and NoiseGuard technology designed to minimize noise levels during drive operations. Samsung claims the MT2 will deliver approximately 20 percent increased read/write performance and 4 percent lower power consumption when compared against drives from the competition. The new drive also features shock resistance levels of 400G (2ms) in operation mode and 800G (1ms) when the drive is turned off.
