What do you get when you combine a large 4.3 inch capacitive touch-screen enabled display and a 1GB Qualcomm Snapdragon processor? The makings of one sexy smartphone!! And that’s exactly what we’re supposed to get with the upcoming HTC Leo handset – due to come out in a few months time.

The Leo measures a mere 11mm thin and features:

• 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus lens
• Built-in 2-LED flash
• Built-in GPS
• Bluetooth 2.1 support
• 3.5mm headset jack
• WVGA resolution display

On the OS front, the Leo is expected to feature Windows Mobile 6.5. Yeah sorry – no Android on this phone but who knows – maybe we’ll see Android down the road. I for one, am not a hater of Windows Mobile. I just wish the user interface would be improved. Not too much to ask for is it?

Not only will Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile carry the Windows Mobile smartphone but above is visual proof that AT&T will indeed be carrying the phone.  Interestingly enough, the Touch Pro2 will likely be branded as the Tilt 2 by AT&T.

Well it’s about time!

Garmin-Asus announces today that their nüvifone G60 and M20 handsets will finally go on sale in different parts of Asia shortly. The G60 will be available in Taiwan starting on July 27th, and then in Singapore and Malaysia by the end of August. The M20 will go on sale in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia in August.

Don’t worry if you don’t exactly remember these handsets – they were delayed to the second half of 2009 back in May after having been announced earlier this year. Here’s a quick rundown on the specs for both models:

Supposed digital stills of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 have apparently leaked onto the Net courtesy of jjlifeblog’s website here. The pictures show the X2 to be another sideways-sliding handset with a full QWERTY keyboard (I appreciate the large Return key on the right hand side!) running Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. According to SonyInsider.com, the X2 will have the following specs:

Thanks to a pal of mine at work who just got back from Hong Kong, I managed to snap up some pictures of the new HTC Touch Diamond 2 Windows Mobile handset. I apologize for these blurry pictures since they were taken with my crappy iPhone camera.

I briefly played with the phone and definitely found the user-interface to be fairly responsive. However, after using an iPhone for nearly two years, it’s clear that I’m expecting every user interface to utilize touch in a similar manner..  Unfortunately while the Touch Diamond 2 UI is good by Windows Mobile standards, it’s still no iPhone UI. Enjoy the pics.

Oh yes – check out this extensive review of the Touch Diamond 2 over at Unwired View where they say the following:

“Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my experience with HTC Touch Diamond 2. If you never used a Windows Mobile or HTC device before, it can take few minutes to get used to it.”

On the revenue side, Microsoft follows Apple’s direction by providing developers 70 percent of the revenue from sales of their respective applications on the Marketplace. Developers can set their own price for their respective market and applications can also be distributed on the Marketplace for free.

Developers can submit up to five applications to Windows Marketplace for Mobile for an introductory annual registration fee of $99 dollars. Each additional submission within the annual period will cost $99 dollars. If you’re a student developer enrolled in the Microsoft DreamSpark program then the fee is waived altogether.

The Windows Marketplace for Mobile will be available in 29 countries which means you’ll be able to tap into a large multi-national customer base with your applications. Just like Apple, Microsoft will run a certification and testing process before the applications hit the Marketplace.

Developers will be able to see detailed feedback during and after the certification process of their application on the Marketplace for Mobile developer portal.

Registration will begin this summer and developers will be able to submit applications later this summer.

Hmm.. I think it’s time for me to revisit Visual Studio again! Been spending a bit too much time with Java and Ruby in recent months!
