ASUS plans on introducing “at least two” new tablet PC products in the coming months according to a new interview with ASUS chairman, Jonny Shih, at Forbes.com. In the interview, Mr. Shih states:
“Netbooks are the best combination of personal computing and cloud computing, .. But between netbooks and smartphones and e-readers, we think there will be a space for something like a tablet or slate PC.“
The two expected tablets will run on very different platforms. One tablet will run a Google OS solution – although it’s not clear at this time whether it will be Android or the Google Chrome OS. The other tablet model will be based on the Microsoft Windows platform. Taken together, ASUS hopes to provide flexible tablet solutions to the end-user.
Additionally, ASUS will be emphasizing the multimedia capabilities of the ASUS tablets. Shih states “The Google tablet will have a lot of media.”
