This my friends.. is the modern day fanny pack. It’s called the Setgo Transport and it’s a single piece over-the-shoulder strap designed to carry most (if not all) of your gadget gear. The Transport appears to have two front pockets which can hold devices such as your mobile phone and/or an MP3 player like the iPod. There’s also a side zipper which reveals a nice pocket for additional storage. Now of course.. if you’re willing to strap this around your shoulder and body.. why not just get yourself a messenger bag? For $80 dollars, the Setgo Transport certainly costs nearly as much as a mid-range messenger bag. Somehow.. I can’t get myself to say that the Transport is “cooler” than wearing a messenger bag or just having your gadgets say.. in your jean pockets or on your belt instead. To me… (and this just might be me only..), it’s screaming “GEEK!” But hey.. I’m sure there will be some of you out there who’ll think this is sheer genius.

No – this is not another handbag of sorts – it’s the new Belkin Laptop Hideaway. The concept is simple enough – when you want to store away your laptop, simply drop it (and your laptop accessories) into this bag and keep it hidden away … or perhaps keep it in public since the hideaway looks like something out of a Crate and Barrel catalog anyhow. The Hideaway has a large handle that lets you carry the tote from room to room. It’s large enough to carry your laptop, power cord, and various magazines.

You’ll find the Belkin Laptop Hideaway in late January for a price of $49.99. It fits 15.4 inch laptops – both widescreen and standard sized displays. Colors include chocolate/tourmaline and khaki/tarragon.

It’s the day after Christmas, and we’re all bound to have one or two gifts that we’re not entirely thrilled with. Well, you can now put those gifts to good use AND get yourself a new cool bag from Crumpler too – that is if you’re living in New York City. Crumpler is allowing you to “regift” your gifts by bringing any unopened gifts (or gifts that have not been owned for a long time) to two Crumpler store locations in the city (SoHO and West Village) on Saturday January 5th between 11:30 to 7:30. In exchange, Crumpler will give you 40 percent off any messenger bag, laptop bag, camera bag, or backpack. Crumpler will take your gifts (make sure they’re in their original packaging and rewrapped!) and donate them to the Salvation Army. Personally, I think it’s an awesome deal. Crumpler bags are generally pricey but they’re also great bags. I’ve had this one Crumpler bag for approximately 6 years now and it’s practically in new condition still! If you’re a lover of messenger bags, Crumpler is definitely a brand you’ll want to check out (if you haven’t already) – plus you get to help out a good cause with some gifts that you .. well quite frankly probably won’t use.

Store Locations in NYC:

January 5th from 11:30 am to 7:30pm.

SoHo:

45 Spring St.

212-334-9391

West Village:

This mobile phone bag contains two slots – a normal slot and a signal blocking slot. When you just want to carry your phone around in a case, simply slide your mobile phone into the normal slot to protect the phone. Now when you really want some peace and quiet and you absolutely want to block a network connection from your phone, slide the phone into the signal blocking slot. Of course.. why not just turn off the phone you might ask? I have no idea…

The Black Hole Phone Bag measures 85 x 140 mm and costs $12 dollars.

Growing up in NYC, the bag of choice back in HS was the Manhattan Portage messenger bag. But over time, my tastes expanded to include the likes of Timbuk2 and of course Crumpler (gotta love that name if you ask me).
Growing up in NYC, the bag of choice back in HS was the Manhattan Portage messenger bag. But over time, my tastes expanded to include the likes of Timbuk2 and of course Crumpler (gotta love that name if you ask me). I currently own a Crumpler messenger bag but this new bag from Timbuk2 is certainly drawing my attention now. It’s called the “Hacker” bag and it’s actually a combination messenger bag / backpack. You can basically wear like it like a standard messenger bag OR if you feel like carrying a backpack instead, you can attach a strap and convert it into a backpack. Features of this $120 dollar bag include:

Panel pocket with organizer and red key tether

Adjustable shoulder strap with removable strap pad

Two main zip compartments

Waterproof liner

Reflector tabs

Ballistic nylon

Grab handle

Padded, corduroy-lined laptop compartment

Molded back panel

Full flap closure with dual buckles

Waterproof, rubberized bottom with safety flasher attachment loop

The Timbuk2 Hacker is available in two color combinations – navy/slate blue/navy and all black.
