Targeting markets that demand rugged mobile handheld computers, Juniper Systems announce the availability of the new Mega Rugged Notepad – a Windows Mobile powered device that’s smaller than a full-fledged tablet PC yet larger than a standard PDA.

The Mega Rugged Notepad is available in three models: Standard, Geo, and Geo 3G. The Standard features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The Geo adds a built-in GPS capable of two to five feet accuracy as well as a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera coupled with Juniper’s Geotagging capabilities. The Geo 3G tacks on a built-in 3G GSM modem.

Other features and specs to the Mega include:

  • 806MHz PXA320 processor
  • 256MB RAM
  • 4GB flash storage
  • SD/SDHC slot
  • 15 control buttons (6 user assignable)
  • Five way directional navpad
  • Adjustable LED backlit keys
  • IP67 rating means the device is fully waterproof and dustproof
  • Tested to MIL-STD-810G specifications for water, humidity, sand and dust, vibration, altitude, shock, and temperature
  • Rugged magnesium and plastic chassis protects the handheld from up to 4 foot drops onto concrete
  • Customizable home screen including user-defined shortcuts, and 11 screen gadgets
  • Windows Mobile 6.5.3 OS
  • 16 hour battery life with two batteries (two battery slots). 2-4 hours to fully charge
  • 5.7 inch VGA active viewing display
  • Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
  • Measures 5.3 x 7.9 x 2 inches and weighs 1.9 lbs with one battery and 2.2 lbs with two batteries
