Verizon developing streaming video app for iPad and other mobile devices for FiOS customers
Verizon announced today it is currently developing applications for several mobile platforms (including tablets, notebooks, and of course the Apple iPad) allowing FiOS customers to stream live television programming directly to their respective mobile device.
The application, expected sometime next year, will allow customers to roam their homes while continuing the TV viewing experience. It will also leverage the Verizon FiOS network allowing customers to see in real time what shows are popular among viewers in a given region. Verizon is currently in talks with content providers in the hopes of getting their permission to stream their content onto FiOS customer devices.
Verizon also announced plans to release another app later this year which allows customers to watch movies purchased and rented from FiOS on BlackBerrys, Android devices, and the Apple iPad.
