Vaja is at it again - they’ve created a beautiful looking leather case for the Apple MacBook Air called the i-volution Leather Suit. The leather case attaches to the MacBook Air and stays on - whether you’re using it or not. That’s it - it’s designed to be a permanent part of your MacBook Air - at least as permanent as you want it! There are cutouts in the case for all the necessary ports including the USB port, headphones, charger connector, and micro-DVI connector. The Leather Suit measures 12.99 x 9.21 x 1.25 inches and has a starting price of $280 dollars. Yes it’s pricey but then again- so was that MacBook Air of yours. Finally - the best part about Vaja? You can totally customize the Leather Suit to your heart’s desire.

I’ll admit it. I’m not an Apple fanboy per se but I do love the Apple television commercials - especially the ones making fun of PC’s and Windows Vista. Thus I find this parody piece from Lenovo even more hilarious simply because it turns the table on Apple and makes fun of the MacBook Air. Enjoy!

macbook air vista performance

Thinking about running Windows Vista on a new Apple MacBook Air? Well according to the folks at PC World, don’t expect earth shattering performance. Vista on MacBook Air (via BootCamp) scored a 61 on PC World’s WorldBench 6 test - slower than the top-rated ultraportable - the Lenovo ThinkPad X61 which scored an 86 on the same test. It certainly isn’t the slowest ultra-portable out there either but don’t expect blazing speeds. Of course when you consider that the system utilizes a blazingly slow hard drive inside, is it any surprise that the MacBook Air would be a tad bit slow?

MacBook Air

Cisco Cheng of PC Magazine has published an early preview of the newly announced Apple MacBook Air here on PC Mag’s website. Here are some key observations noted in the article:

  • Black illuminated keyboard
  • Keyboard is comfortable to type on
  • Completely recyclable aluminum casing
  • Touchpad is the “largest I’ve ever seen on any ultraportable”
  • 1 USB port - yeah I think that’s lame too
  • No FrontRow sensor and remote - good riddance - there’s no need for that on the Air
  • Could the CPU be one of the new Intel low-voltage Penryn processors?
  • Non-user upgradable battery although you can buy a new one for $129 and Apple will replace it for you

Here’s the early verdict:

The MacBook Air is officially the thinnest laptop, and the lightest of those with a 13-inch screen. But there were compromises that had to be made.
