What do you do if you have an old Nintendo Entertainment System lying about collecting dust? How about removing the guts of the NES and transforming the old console into a full-fledge Atom-powered PC system?

That’s exactly what “melanarchy” over at Etsy.com did with his NES which he is now selling for $475 dollars. The NES has been outfitted with a Zotac IONITX-A-U motherboard which comes complete with an Intel Atom N330 processor, and features the NVIDIA ION platform, 2GB of RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 6 USB 2.0 ports 1 eSATA port, HDMI/DVI/VGA connectors, and of course your requisite audio connectors.

The console’s reset button has been modified to serve as the system’s power button and the system comes ready to use with Ubuntu 9.10.

Definitely a pretty nifty mod. If you have a NES chassis lying about – why not try the mod yourself?
