Sanyo introduced a new high definition Xacti camcorder this week called the DMX-HD800. The DMX-HD800 captures both video and digital still shots and saves data directly to SD/SDHC memory cards. Enhancements include a new three dimensional digital noise reduction (3DDNR) filter and a new “Face Chaser” which works for both stills and videos.

Key features of the new Sanyo DMX-HD800 include:

Lightweight design

Records in 720p (1280 x 720) for video

8 megapixel still capture

Take stills at anytime – even when recording video

Preview photos while recording video with “Photo View” button

Utilizes AVC/H.264 codec

The folks at Akihabara also state that the DMX-HD800 will be available in Gold, Pink, and Black.

Fans of the Sanyo Katana handset will be happy to hear that the company appears to have another model in the making. Thanks to the FCC, renderings of the upcoming Katana LX handset have made the rounds on the Internet. Information about the feature set is a bit scarce at this time but MobileBurn does mention that the phone doesn’t appear tohave a camera, external display or a microSD slot (though I’m not sure about the camera aspect). From the images, it appears the clamshell handset comes with side volume controls and a headphone jack. Documentation clearly shows this phone to be a CDMA phone with Bluetooth wireless capabilities.
