Who says you can’t get large capacity solid state drives (SSDs)?? OCZ Technology’s new Colossus LT 3.5 inch SSDs now come in capacities ranging from 120GB all the way to 1 terabyte (1024GB). Yes that’s right – a 1 terabyte SSD.

Of course all of that awesome space will certainly cost you an arm and a leg and then some! The 1 TB version of the Colossus LT is expected to run approximately $4000. Yes.. that’s $4K.  Yikes.

Specs to the Colossus LT include:

  • Internal RAID 0
  • Dual-controller design
  • 128MB onboard cache
  • MLC NAND chips
  • Supports Background Garbage Collection
  • < .1 ms seek time
  • Lightweight aluminum casing
  • MTBF of 1 million hours

The Colossus LT has a read/write performance of up to 260MB/s. The 120GB version has a sustained write performance of 140MB/s while the larger capacity versions has a sustained write performance of 220MB/s.

Pretty cool.. just wish it wasn’t 4K for 1 terabyte of flash goodness.
