Polar WearLink+ brings heart rate monitoring to Nike+ users
The new Polar WearLink+ brings heart rate monitoring to Nike+ users for the first time ever. Worn around the chest and working in conjunction with either the Nike+ SportBand or the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit, the WearLink transmits the user’s heart rate wirelessly to the Nike+ devices which can then be synced with the nikeplus.com web service. Users can see their beats per minute (BPM) while they run with the Nike+ SportBand or hear spoken feedback of their BPM during the iPod workout.
The WearLink+ is also compatible with most Polar training computers (at least the ones with 5 kHz transmission technology) and can be used with a Nike+ system and a Polar training computer simultaneously. The device comes with a soft washable textile chest strap that easily adapts to any user’s chest and a hook mechanism making it super easy to put on. There’s even a user-replaceable battery making it easy to maintain over time.
Polar expects the WearLink+ to be available in the U.S. this month and in Canada and major EU countries in July. No word on pricing.
