NEC LCD Technologies is showing off a new manufacturing technology for TFT LCD panels at SID 2008 that allows them to create more flexible LCD panel designs. Pictured above is a prototype heart shaped LCD module formed using two half-circular arcs and two straight lines. It measures 4.0 cm in width, has a height of 3.6 cm and a pixel width of 174 micrometers. According to NEC, the new technology allows LCD modules to be adapted into different shapes and used in a variety of new applications.
