SuperThin_Cable

We all love HDMI cables (maybe not the pricing sometimes) don’t we? They reduce cable clutter by simplifying connections between two devices down to a single cable.. But come on now.. we can do better right? Well that’s what the folks at Monster are saying with the introduction of their new “Powered” SuperThin Cables for HDMI. Yes.. as you can tell, these HDMI cables are indeed significantly thinner than standard HDMI cables (they measure a mere 3.5mm in diameter).

The new SuperThin Cables for HDMI are the first products developed in collaboration with RedMere and thanks to their MagnifEye Active technology, the cables offer great performance while boosting the HD signals directly within the cable itself without the need of an external power supply.  This eliminates the need for heavy-gauge copper which of course means the cables can be made thinner, lighter, and more portable.

The SuperThin Cables for HDMI will be available in 4, 8, and 16 foot versions within the Monster DigitalLife product line. Here’s the pricing:

  • Digital Life SuperThin High Speed Powered Cable for HDMI (SRP) 4ft. $89.95, 8ft. $99.95 and 16ft. $119.95.
  • Digital Life SuperThin High Speed Powered Cable for camcorder; Mini HDMI to HDMI 8ft. (SRP) $99.95.
  • Monster’s Core Line of SuperThin Powered Cables for HDMI 1m $79.95, 2m $89.95 4m $99.95, 5m $119.95.

IF (1) you’re in Los Angeles, (2) interested in the Beats by Dr. Dre high definition headphones, and (3) willing to spend more money than the standard $349 price, then you’ll be interested to know that Monster is offering limited edition versions of the Beats by Dr. Dre high definition headphones at the Ron Herman flagship store in Los Angeles for a cool $699.

What does the added cost get you exactly? Well.. a different color! The limited edition headphones are white (as opposed to the standard black Beats by Dr. Dre headphones pictured above and below). According to Ron Herman:

“Our Ron Herman boutiques are the quintessential environment where one can experience the unification of fashion, music and culture. Beats By Dr. Dre are more than just headphones, they are a fashion accessory.”

$700 dollars for a white version eh? Hmm.. not sure about that one
