DivX continues to make in-roads in the consumer electronics space as they’ve announced a new multi-year agreement with Samsung to include DivX video playback in a new line of Samsung television sets. These DivX-certified Samsung television sets will come out in early 2009 and will play back DivX encoded video files via USB slots or via an Ethernet connection certified by DLNA. Samsung already has a number of DivX certified devices including DVD players, mobile phones etc.

Here is the new LG DVS450H wall-mountable DVD player – the first DivX certified DVD player capable of playing back high definition DivX video. Users of the DVS450H can play back DivX videos burned onto DVDs or stored on USB flash drives. The DVS450H supports playback of DVDs and CDs, as well as MP3, WMA, JPEG, DivX, and DivX HD file formats.

DivX announced that Panasonic’s latest standalone Blu-ray player, the DMP-BD50, is the first Blu-ray player to receive DivX certification. the DMP-BD50 is Panasonic’s third generation player featuring 1080p output, support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, support for BD-Live, a PHL Reference Chroma processor and a P conversion processor, as well as SD card support.
