All signs certainly point to an expansion of the inexpensive, ultra-light computing segment powered by CULV processors from both Intel and AMD. These systems are larger and more powerful than netbooks, yet are cheaper and just as thin as expensive ultra-light portable systems that typically cost $1000 or more (tho arguably less powerful).

The latest entry into this space comes from the folks at BenQ and it’s called the Joybook Lite T131. The T131 features the following specs:

  • 13.3 inch display
  • 1.6GHz AMD Sempron 200U processor (which should provide more power than the Athlon Neo processor now available for ultra-portables)
  • 1GB RAM
  • ATI Mobility Radeon X1270 graphics
  • 250GB HDD (or 320GB)
  • Windows Vista Home Basic
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • Microphone
  • HD audio
  • VoIP support
  • Noise suppression and echo cancellation software
  • Built-in SD/MMC card reader
  • Two USB 2.0 ports
  • Ethernet port
  • VGA port
  • ExpressCard slot
  • Six cell Lithium-Ion battery for up to a measly 3 hours of battery life

Electronista claims the T131 will launch in China later this month. No word on pricing or exact  dates.
