Western Digital is now shipping the largest capacity 2.5 inch notebook hard drive in the form of the new WD Scorpio Blue 750GB HDD. The new drives feature:

  • Advanced Format technology which increases media format efficiencies for larger drive capacities
  • WhisperDrive technology using “state-of-the-art” seeking algorithms to deliver a quiet 2.5 inch drive while also improving power consumption
  • ShockGuard protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks
  • SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off to ensure the head never touches the disk surface
  • 3Gb/s SATA interface
  • 5400RPM

One small note – if you check out the WD Scorpio Blue product page, you’ll notice a reference to 1TB drive capacities. Guess we’ll be expecting larger 2.5 inch notebook hard drives in the near future!

As of now, the 750GB Scorpio Blue is shipping for a suggested retail price of $149.
