We dropped by the Harman booth tonight at ShowStoppers and snapped up a few pictures of their recently announced products – Harman Kardon GLA-55 2.0 powered loudspeakers and the updated JBL Creature IIIs.

The GLA-55 2.0 are hand-made powered loudspeakers perfect for anyone looking for great sound from their computer systems. For a quick refresher, here are the specs we listed for the unit back in October:

  • Input Requirement:Main Connection–1/8-inch (3.5 mm) mini stereo jack
  • Drivers: 1 x CMMD, 1 x Atlas AL driver per satellite
  • Power: 56 Watts per satellite
  • Frequency Response: 60 Hz-20 kHz
  • Dimensions: 5.5-inch x 10.5-inch (140 mm x 270 mm)
  • Weight: 2.5 lb (1.2kg)
  • Input Impedance: 5k ohms
  • Voltage input: 120V AC

Each enclosure is baked at 80 degrees C for four hours and the walls have a variable wall thickness which results in a stiff and resonance free enclosure.  Features include Atlas and CMMD Transducers, Slipstream Port Design, a 110 watt digital power with DSP, Computer Optimized Equalization, and Optimized Compression Topology.

The price  is still $999.99 so you might want to ask your significant other if it’s OK to buy it before you shell out the card.

The JBL Creature III also made an appearance tonight at ShowStoppers. Harman’s inventory was so low for the Creature III they actually had to get the Creature III on loan from Apple for the event tonight.  The Creature III is apparently selling quite well so make sure to pick one up at your local Apple Store for $129.99. Here are the specs to the Creature III:

  • Glows from the bottom
  • Compatible with PCs, Macs, portable music players, and gaming consoles
  • Soft-touch tactile controls requiring only a slight touch to increase/decrease volume or mute the system
  • Recall volume settings used when the speaker system was last in use
  • Comes with latest Odyssey transducer technology
  • Input requirement: 1/8? (3.5mm) stereo minijack
  • Drivers: 1-5/8? (40mm) in satellites, 3? (75mm) in subwoofer
  • Power: satellites – 5 watts each (10% THD+N), subwoofer – 15 watts total (10% THD+N)
  • Satellite dimensions: 3? x 3? x 2-3/4? (75mm x 75mm x 70mm)
  • Subwoofer dimensions: 9? x 9? x 9? (230mm x 230mm x 230mm)
