3M Display M2256PW

If there’s one thing to be thankful for with Windows 7, it’s the fact that the new OS is spurring on the development of multi-touch enabled displays. Case in point? 3M announced last week they will be showing off their new 3M Display M2256PW (above)– a 22 inch, 10 finger multi-touch enabled display designed for professional and prosumer applications.  No word on exact specs, but I’m willing to bet the M2256PW is similar to the current 3M Multi-touch developer kit available for $1499.

3m multi-touch developer kit

The 3M Multi-touch developer kit (above) is a 19 inch wide-aspect 16:10 metal-encased LCD display with a resolution of 1440 x 900. Other features include a finished front bezel, glass front surface desktop stand and USB HID connectivity. Specs include 1000:1 contrast ratio, 3.6ms video response time, 265 cd/m2 brightness with touch sensor, and a viewing angle of 80 degrees. The 19 inch panel supports true multi-touch capability with up to 10 fingers and a touch response speed of less than 15ms, independent of the number of fingers on the touch sensor. If you want to buy the developer kit monitor, head over to the 3M website here.
