Could we possibly be wrong with the price point of the rumored Apple Tablet?

According to Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner, the tablet will have a 10.1 inch multi-touch LCD display with a price point of around $1,000.

If the price point is true, it goes against the idea that the Tablet is designed to combat the flood of netbooks in the computing industry. In fact, at $1,000, the rumored Tablet becomes much more sensible from a business perspective for Apple. It doesn’t dilute their existing products; it certainly won’t dilute their brand; and if executed well, it will still be sought after by the masses at large.

As for when the Tablet might appear, Reiner suggests a Spring timeframe for the product. Reiner’s sources in the supply chain suggest that “the manufacturing cogs for the [device] are creaking into action” with 1 million units planned per month when means one might expect the Apple Tablet as soon as March of 2010.

Again.. these are all rumors.. but $1000 dollars makes sense. Would you buy one for that much?
