We got some additional information about the new partnership between Boxee and D-Link courtesy of a press release that made it to my inbox here at Krunker.com. First off, as you probably guessed by now, D-Link is the first hardware vendor to release a Boxee branded device for the living room with the announcement of the Boxee Box.

What’s the goal of the Boxee Box? To make it incredibly easy for the average consumer to get content from the Internet and from network connected PCs to a television screen in the living room.

To make this possible, here’s what we know about the Boxee Box:

  • Provides access to Internet content
  • Users can add their own favorite entertainment sources via RSS or XML feeds
  • Access music from sites like Pandora, Last.fm, shoutcast, and We Are Hunted
  • Access photos from sites like Flickr, Picasa, and Facebook
  • Measures 120 x 120 x 120 mm
  • 1 HDMI connector
  • 1 Optical Digital Audio (S/PDIF) connector
  • Composite Audio connectors
  • Power button
  • AC power connector
  • Ethernet connection
  • 2 USB 2.0 connections
  • SD card slot
  • Connect via 802.11n Wi-Fi and Ethernet

To cap things off, the Boxee Box has already won a “Best of Innovations” award from CES – congrats. Finally, we can expect the Boxee Box during the first half of 2010 although the price has yet to be determined at this time.
