HP’s new business systems – the ProBook notebooks and Elite 7000 desktop PCs
With Microsoft set to release Windows 7 in 10 days, it’s not surprising to see a growing number of new PC announcements. Today’s apparently HP’s turn as the company unveiled several new business oriented systems including new ProBook notebook models, the new HP Elite 7000 Business Desktop PC, and new HP docking stations.
We’ll start things off with the new ProBook 6445b and 6545b. Features of these business notebooks include:
- Supports new AMD processors and graphics solutions
- Battery life improved up to 60 percent – up to 8 hours and 15 minutes
- Performance improved up to 39 percent
- Available with 14 inch or 15.6 inch diagonal HD LED-backlit widescreen displays
- Spill-resistant keyboard with drain
- ENERGY STAR 5.0 and EPEAT Gold certified
- HP Power Assistant delivers power management and monitoring
- Some models feature built-in GPS navigation
The new ProBook b-series notebooks will be available worldwide starting on Oct 22nd and in the U.S. starting in mid-November. Prices will start at $799.
Complementing the new business notebooks are new HP Docking Stations and HP Advanced Docking Stations which offer up to six USB ports, eSATA support, up to two video DisplayPort connectors, and VGA/DVI ports.
On the desktop front, HP announces the HP Elite 7000 Business Desktop PC with features such as:
- Sleek exterior design with metal surface and high gloss black finish
- HP Chassis Lock to help deter hardware theft
- Credential Manager for HP ProtectTools provides single-sign-on functionality and automatically stores and protects passwords
- Norton Online Backup
- Windows 7 or pre-installed Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 now available
- DDR3 memory support
- Intel P55 Express Chipset
- Choice of the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors
- Up to 8 GB of RAM
- Up to 1TB HDD
- Optional SSD
- RAID 1 mirroring array with 2 hard drives
- Choice of SATA DVD-ROM drive, SATA SuperMulti LightScribe DVD writer drive and optional HP SATA Blu-ray Writer
- 22 in 1 media card reader
The HP Elite 7000 will be available on October 22nd with a starting price of $789.
