HP relaunches ENVY brand with ENVY 13 and ENVY 15 notebooks
If you’ve been following the PC industry for a few years then you’ll remember that the ENVY brand was originally for Voodoo products (later on HP Voodoo). Well today, HP re-introduces the ENVY brand to denote high end notebook products offering “precision-crafted, high performance models featuring HP Metal Etching and concierge service and support”. Accompanying the new announcement are two new high end notebooks from HP – the ENVY 13 (with the brightest display in its class) and the ENVY 15 ( the company’s fastest consumer notebook PC ever). As always, let’s get down to the nitty gritty details shall we?
ENVY 13:
- 13.3 inch HP Radiance Display which is twice as bright as other notebook displays in its class – 410 nits of brightness, 82 percent color gamut, 8 ms response time, and 1366 x 768 resolution
- edge to edge glass screen
- Less than an inch thin and weighing 3.74 pounds
- Aluminum and magnesium construction
- Etched metal palmrest
- Tiled keyboard and glass touchpad with multitouch functions
- VGA webcam optimized for low-light
- Slim Fit Extended-Life Notebook Battery preserves the look of the ENVY 13 while offering up to 18 hours of battery life
- ATI Switchable Graphics – dynamically switches between ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 discrete graphics and Intel integrated graphics
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor
- Small and light AC adapter with built-in surge protection and rubberized strap which keeps cables organized
- Available on Oct 18th with a starting price of $1699.
ENVY 15:
- HP’s fastest consumer notebook
- Full metal case with laser etched metal design on the lid and palmrest
- Magnesium allow casing
- Measures 1 inch thin and weighs 5.18 pounds
- Intel Core i7 processor
- Up to 16GB of RAM in four SODIMM slots
- Optional 2 solid state drives in RAID 0 configuration
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics with 1GB dedicated video memory
- Choice of two 15.6 inch HP Brightview high resolution LED backlit displays – including Full HD LED HP Ultra BrightView Widescreen display with up to 300 nits brightness.
- Choice of 1366 x 768 or 1920 x 1080 resolution
- Nightvision VGA webcam optimized for low light or zero light conditions. An infrared LED assists the webcam.
- Optional Slim Fit Extended Life Notebook battery providing up to 7 hours of battery life
