Pioneer DJM-500 for the mobile DJ
Pioneer Electronics introduces their latest audio mixer ideal for mobile DJ’s out there – the DJM-5000. The unit combines five different products (mic effector, audio interface, MIDI controller, audio processor, and second zone mixer) into a single device. Features of the DJM-5000 include:
- Rack-mountable (5U by 19 inches)
- Two output modes – multi-zone and standard. In multi-zone, the mixer’s outputs can be dedicated to multiple audio sources and distributed to two different areas. e.g – One room could have music from an MP3 player while another room could have music from a turntable. In standard mode, all four audio outputs are directed to one area
- Advanced Talk Over – attenuates the frequencies in the mid-range / vocal area of music being played while the microphone is in use. This allows someone to speak without lowering the entire volume output
- Three microphone inputs – two are independent balanced inputs. Each mic has a dedicated volume control and 3 band equalizer. Microphone section of the mixer is outfitted with four effects – reverb, echo plus verb, octaver, and pitch
- 96kHz/24-bit analog to digital converter and 32 bit DSP
- Sound Maximizer audio processor
- Six-channel (three stereo pairs) USB audio interface. Allows for direct-plug in from a laptop to the mixer over a USB connection
- Two Digital Inputs
- Each channel features a multi-colored, 10-segment / per channel LED meter
- Equipped with a 3-band (High, Mid, Low) equalizer on each channel, the sound can be adjusted from –26dB to +6dB
- Users can easily assign channel output via the cross fader for increased flexibility
- Allows the curve of the cross fader to be adjusted to any of three patterns
- The mixer can automatically start/cue a connected device such as Pioneer’s CDJ or MEP players by simply sliding the cross fader or channel fader
The Pioneer DJM-500 will be available in October for a suggested retail price of $1275.00
