It might be the start of summer but for many companies, it’s actually the beginning of the all-important back-to-school season. Gateway announced this week two new back-to-school desktop PCs – the small form factor SX Series and the compact (though boring looking) DX Series mini-tower line. As usual, here’s the low-down to the new desktop PCs from Gateway.

Gateway SX Series:

SX Series

The SX Series is Gateway’s first small form factor desktop PC lineup – ideal for small spaces such as a dorm room or a den. The first model in the new SX series is the $499.99 SX2800-01 featuring an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor clocked at 2.33GHz. Here are the rest of the specs to the SX2800-01:

If you’re looking for something with a bit more oomph (although a quad core processor isn’t exactly tiny in power), then the compact DX Series might be for you. The DX Series offers several expansion capabilities including two external 5.25 inch drive bays, three 3.5 inch drive bays and several expansion slots for additional cards. Two available systems include the DX4300-03 and the DX4820-02. Here’s what you need to know about the two systems:

DX4300-03:
