Best Buy to get the Pre? Another webOS smartphone going to AT&T?
The Boy Genius Report has some pretty interesting news regarding the much anticipated Palm Pre handset. According to one of their sources (and this rumor has yet to be 100 percent confirmed), Best Buy will be getting a small allotment of Palm Pre’s for a trial launch slated for June 7th. Approximately 4500 units will be available for Best Buy Mobile locations around the country – yes.. that’s not a lot.
Possible price points are as follows:
- New Sprint customers with a 2 year contract will be able to get the Pre for $199.99
- Existing customer upgrades will go for $299.99
- Buy a model outright.. umm $999.99. Yes.. that’s a bit ridonkulous..
Now if you’ve been bummed that the Pre is only slated for Sprint (yeah.. I’m part of that lot .. sorta), then you’ll want to check out this rumor being reported over at MobileBurn.com (via Engadget Mobile). The site is reporting that Palm is readying a webOS powered smartphone called the “Palm Eos” for the AT&T 3G network slated for later this year. Details of the Eos include:
- Full QWERTY keyboard
- 2.6 inch display
- 10.5mm thin form factor
- 4GB internal storage
- 2 megapixel camera
- GPS
Pricing for the Eos is believed to be $349 along with a new 2 year agreement. All purely speculative of course
