Dell introduces super rugged Latitude E6400 XFR laptop
Looking for a super rugged laptop? How about a laptop made out of say… “ballistic armor”? Yes, that’s right.. you heard me. Ballistic Armor (b/c magnesium alloy is just soo old school now). That’s what you get with the newly announced Dell Latitude E6400 XFR fully rugged laptop – a system which according to Dell offers a high drop specification and a “greater level of dust and moisture protection” than other fully rugged laptops in its class. Here’s what you need to know about E6400 XFR:
- Dell exclusive Ballistic Armor Protection system featuring PR-481 which comes with a high-strength substance used for applications such as cryogenics, aircraft components, military equipment and medical devices
- Ballistic Armor offers 2x the strength of magnesium alloy, 25 percent higher drop spec that other computers (up to 4 feet with system powered down and closed, and up to 36 inch drop with the system operating and the LCD open), high compression strength, structural stability at extreme temps, and scratch-resistance providing corrosion protection
- PrimoSeal Technology for enhanced protection from dust and liquid
- System meets more than 13 military standards
- Shares common images and components with Latitude E6400 laptops
- Powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor
- QuadCool Thermal Management System
- Extended field use batteries with ExpressCharge allows batteries to recharge 2x faster than Panasonic CF-30
- Measures 2.2 inches thick and weighs 8.5 lbs
- 14.1 inch wide display including DirectVue Technology which allows users to work in direct sunlight
