Samsung Memoir to come out on Feb 25th for T-Mobile
Pre-announced last week, the new Samsung Memoir touch-screen handset now has an availability date attached to it. The 8 megapixel handset will be available exclusively through T-Mobile starting on February 25th. Samsung, T-Mobile, and model Helena Christensen, announced the new handset today with Christensen showing off pictures she took with the phone while she was traveling in New York and Barcelona.
The Memoir is Samsung’s attempt to bring high quality digital photography to the mobile phone industry. Features of the Memoir include the following:
- 8 megapixel resolution camera
- Xenon flash, CMOS auto-focus, and 16x digital zoom
- User’s can adjust the brightness and flash, change the default destination of images, select a timer, and zoom in or out
- User’s can set special effects including black/white, sepia, negative, and watercolor
- Blink detection, face detection, anti-shake, and geo-tagging
- Provides optimal settings for a variety of shooting situations including portrait, landscape, night, sports, party/indoor, beach snow, sunset, dawn, fall color, fireworks and backlight
- Automatically changes the white balance using the setting appropriate for the light source, including daylight, incandescent, fluorescent or cloudy;
- Five different shooting modes, including single, continuous, panorama, smile shot and mosaic
- Record video up to 60 minutes long
- Create customized slideshows of images with music and different transitions
- TV out feature
- Proximity sensor automatically adjusts backlight when using the phone’s camera in different environments and locks the LCD screen when brought to the user’s ear during phone calls
- Samsung TouchWiz user interface and two new widgets for one touch access to information and entertainment
- Camera widget provides access to user’s pictures and camera functionality as well as online photo sharing resources including Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Photobucket, and Snapfish
- Support for T-Mobile’s 3G network
- Built-in music and video player
- Multiple messaging capabilities
- Full touch QWERTY keyboard with haptic feedback
- Assisted GPS
Alas.. no word on pricing but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
