After months of rumors and speculations, it appears Amazon is ready to unleash the next version of the Kindle e-reader device. According to the folks at MobileRead.com (who also managed to get some pretty sweet pictures of the device), Amazon will unveil the Kindle 2 tomorrow at 10am in New York. The Kindle 2 will then go on sale on February 24th for a price of $359 though this has yet to be confirmed.

For folks waiting on the new Kindle, it certainly looks like Amazon will have awarded your long wait. From the looks of these press release images, the new Kindle 2 will certainly be one sexy thin device. Just look at how thin it is compared to a pencil!!! My goodness.

Of course, we’re lacking on specifications at this time but we would assume all the features of the first Kindle would be found in this new version. Here’s hoping battery life will be improved. I have to admit – if these pics are legit (and there’s no reason to think otherwise), I would be seriously interested in picking up one of these finally.
