Ah yes.. more digital cameras from the folks at Panasonic. We’re going to start with the latest addition to the LUMIX FX line – the DMC-FX48. This slim 12.1 megapixel digital camera features a 25mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC lens and a 5x optical zoom.

How good is the wide angle lens? According to Panasonic, the DMC-FX48 is capable of capturing nearly twice the viewing space at the same shooting distance compared to standard 35mm cameras. Not bad for a slim digi-cam.

Here’s a quick rundown of other features and specs to the DMC-FX48:

  • Face recognition technology – if a face is captured several times, the camera will ask the user to register the face. Once the face is seen again later, the camera will display the name of the face and prioritize focus and exposure on the person. Users can also choose to display only pictures that contain a specific face.
  • Capture 720p HD video at 30 fps
  • Panasonic Venus Engine V with dual CPUs
  • iA mode which encapsulates MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection, Auto Focus (AF) tracking, Intelligent Exposure, and Intelligent Scene Selector
  • Bright 2.5 inch 230,000 dot resolution Intelligent LCD
  • Stitch together panorama scenes
  • High speed burst – shoots 10 shots per second
  • Macro zoom function

The DMC-FX48 will be available in silver and black for $349.95 and will be coming out in April.
