We’ve been hearing about the promise of wireless charging for some time and it looks one company will finally be showing off a usable product at CES 2009.  The company in this case is called PowerMat and it looks like they’ve developed a method of charging devices without requiring manufacturers to redesign their hardware. We don’t have the full details as of yet but based on the flash demo on their website, we can guess at the following:

The product looks to be made up of a single AC adapter, a single charging mat, and wireless adapters designed to match your various electronic gear. The key hear is the wireless charging adapters – simply find the adapter for your gadget and then place it on the charging mat. If this really is the case, I would love it – A single product that would charge all of my devices without worrying about the hassles of carrying around darn power bricks.

Of course this is all speculation but PowerMat will be demoing the product on Jan 6th at CES so stay tuned!
