Samsung Omnia coming soon to Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless customers will get a chance to order the upcoming Samsung Omnia handset starting on November 26th via the web and the telephone. If you have to play with the handset first before ordering it, you’ll have to wait until December 8th as that’s when the handset will make it to retail stores. The Boy Genius Report is stating that the Omnia will cost $249.99 after a $70 dollar mail-in-rebate (and we assume a new two year agreement).
The Omnia includes Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, a 240 x 400 touch-screen display, FM radio with RDS support, TV-out, a 624MHz Marvell Monahan 310LV processor, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, 16GB internal storage, and up to six hours of talk time (for GSM usage though).
I actually got a chance to play with the Omnia several weeks ago at the Microsoft PDC. It’s certainly a very “pretty” handset – especially for one powered by Windows Mobile. The Omnia features a slightly customized user interface adorned with widgets. To be honest with you – I’m not entirely convinced of the widget usage as of yet.. but we’ll see. Here are pictures I took at the PDC.
