The Nikkei business daily is reporting that Panasonic has agreed to purchase Sanyo Electric. Both companies will hold board meetings this week to approve the deal and a formal announcement could take place by Friday. If the purchase is approved, the resulting company would end up being the largest Japanese electronics manufacturer.
