So here I was..planning to attend next week’s Microsoft PDC in Los Angeles and bam.. I find out there’s no way I can purchase a developer version of the Microsoft Surface. Why you might ask? It’ll cost me a whopping $13,500 to get the developer system – and that’s WITH a 10 percent discount applied!

Ok.. so I’m kidding when it comes to me thinking about buying the developer version of the Surface but I’m not kidding when it comes to the sticker price of the machine. Apparently, the Surface is a bit more than what Microsoft was hoping it would be. According to News.com, the commercial versions of the Surface are going for $12,500 – a bit more than the original $10,000 estimate provided by Microsoft. Now granted, the developer machine provides five software developer kit licenses.. but still!

Oh well.. I guess I’ll just have to stick with looking at the Surface from afar.. way afar…
