HP introduces new green products with two new desktops and a new color display
HP announced three new products on Monday designed to reduce the overall carbon footprint of their products. The products consist of two new desktop PCs (the HP Pavilion Verde Special Edition a6645f and HP Pavilion Phoenix Special Edition a6655f) and a new color display (the HP w2558hc Vivid Color Display).
The two new desktops have the following “green” features:
- ENERGY STAR qualified
- Meets the standards for Silver registration in the EPEAT
- Utilize AMD energy efficient processors
- Packaged in 100 percent recyclable packaging with less plastic foam

On the display front, HP has a new 25.5 inch widescreen flat panel called the w2558hc Vivid Color Display.
The monitor features a built-in 15-in-1 card reader, multiple USB ports, a built-in 2.0 megapixel webcam, built-in speakers, HDMI inputs, and BrightView technology. Green wise, the display is ENERGY STAR qualified and has (gasp) a power saving feature for reduced energy consumption. The display will be available for a price of $599. The specs are:
- 1920 x 1200 resolution
- 3000:1 contrast ratio
- 400 nits of brightness
- 3ms response time
- DVI-I and 2 HDMI inputs
- HDMI with HDCP
