Missed this one earlier this week – Samsung announced a new 8 megapixel touch-screen handset called the Samsung Pixon. Due in October, the Pixon has a 3.2 inch full touch-screen display with advanced digital photography features such as:
- 16x digital zoom
- dual power LED flash
- Advanced Shake Reduction
- Wide Dynamic Rage
- Face Detection, Smile Shot, Face Link technologies
- Geo-tagging, Auto Panorama Shot, and Photo Memo
- Photo Browser included
Other major features of the Pixon handset include:
- GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad band support
- HSDPA 7.2 Mbps support
- 3.2 inch 240 x 400 262K WQVGA TFT LCD display
- Built-in Accelerometer
- Video recording and playback with support for MPEG4, WMV, DivX, XviD
- SRS Virtual 5.1 channel support
- Music player with support for MP3, AAC, e-AAC, e-AAC+, WMA
- FM Radio with RDS
- Digital Natural Sound engine
- Bluetooth 2.0
- 200 MB internal memory
- microSD slot
- Measures 107.9 x 54.6 x 13.8 mm and weighs 121 grams
The Samsung Pixon will be available first in France followed by other European and Asian countries.
