1.8 inch notebook hard drives just got a wee bit larger thanks to Toshiba’s recent introduction of a 250GB MKxx29GSG series hard drive. This third generation hard drive also comes in 120GB and 160GB storage capacities and will result in larger capacity ultra-portable notebooks/netbooks and larger portable media players. Tech specs on these drives include the following:

• Transfer rates of up to 3.0 Gb/s
• Free fall sensor option
• Low energy consumption of 0.0016 watts per GB in
• 5400 RPM
• Micro SATA connector
• 8MB cache buffer
• Average seek time of 15 ms

Toshiba will start volume shipment of these new drives in December.
