Dell to roll out LED displays for all laptops by 2010
Dell announced that they are planning to transition all of their laptop displays to LED displays over the next 12 months – continuing their “green” push with mercury-free and highly recyclable, energy efficient displays. Starting on December 15th, 2008, two-thirds of Dell’s Latitude E family laptops will feature mercury-free LED back lighting as a standard feature. These include the following models: Latitude E4200, E4300, E6400, E6400 ATG and E6500. Dell Precision M2400 and M4400 mobile workstations will also ship with LED back lighting as a standard display. Dell expects to have 80 percent of their laptop volume to have LED displays by the end of 2009 and 100 percent by 2010.
