dell studio hybrid system

A couple of follow-up notes to the new Dell Studio Hybrid desktop system. Yes, it’s also coming out here in the U.S. Base models start at $499 without a monitor and $689 with a monitor. The system is roughly 80 percent the size of a standard PC system while using 70 percent less power. Port wise, the Studio Hybrid features:

  • HDMI, DVI
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Kensington lock
  • S/PDIF support
  • Audio line-in and line-out jacks
  • FireWire 400 port
  • Three USB 2.0 ports (these are in the back. There are 2 more in the front)

The downside – since the system is so small, you have no choice but to use the integrated graphics found in the Intel chipset. Sorry to all you gamers out there who need high performance 3D graphics.

The first review of course is from PC Magazine and they had this to say:

The Dell Studio Hybrid, one of the most design-forward PCs out there, is a competitor to the Mac mini and the HP Slimline PCs. It’s stylish, compact, and unburdened by crapware.
