Toshiba adds support for Intel Centrino 2 to notebook lineups
Yes - you can expect to hear many new product announcements over the next several days regarding the new Intel Centrino 2 processor technology. One of the first out of the gates is Toshiba as they’ve announced updates and additions featuring the new Intel technology.
On the general consumer front, Toshiba has updated their popular line of Satellite notebooks with Centrino 2. The new processor/platform technology will be available in the Toshiba Satellite P300, Satellite A300, Satellite M300, and Satellite U400 laptop series. Many of the Satellite notebooks feature a built-in FM tuner, eSATA port, Sleep-and-Charge USB ports, and Face Recognition technology.
On the business front, Toshiba announced a new model for their Satellite Pro notebook family called the Satellite Pro S300 notebook. This system features Intel’s Centrino 2 processor technology as well as Toshiba’s fourth-generation EasyGuard technology, built-in docking capabilities and Webcam with business card reader software. Other feature include:
- eSata /USB 2.0 combo port
- Sleep-and-Charge USB ports
- PC Energy Star 4.0 compliant
Finally, moving up the business ladder, we’ve got two new Toshiba notebooks featuring Intel’s Centrino 2 platform with vPro technology - the new Tecra M10 and Tecra A10 laptops. Features of these new notebooks include:
- Intel Centrino 2 with vPro technology of course
- EasyGuard technlogy
- Webcam with Business Card reader software
- Common motherboards for reduced costs
- Sleep-and-charge USB port
- Solid State Drive option
The Tecra M10 has an MSRP of $1399 while the A10’s price has yet to be determined.
