Livescribe Inc. announced today that their new Pulse smartpen will be available nationwide in retail sites such as Target, Target.com, Amazon.com and major college and university bookstores. The Pulse smartpen captures both handwriting and audio and synchronizes the audio recording to the writing – making it an ideal tool for students in the classroom setting. It’s available in two models – a 1GB pen capable of storing over 100 hours of audio for $149 and a 2GB pen for $199.  As with other handwriting recording pens, the Pulse requires special Livescribe dot paper. 100 college rule sheets come with the pen but you can buy additional paper for $19.95 (4 pack of college ruled notebooks) or $24.95 (2 pack of journals).
