Mad Catz will apparently be launching their own line of Rock Band instruments over the next several weeks and months. The new collection consists of a wired bass guitar, a wired guitar, a wired microphone, a portable drum kit and a high end premium wired drum kit. Here’s the breakdown on the components:

• The wired drum bass guitar is an officially licensed Fender Precision bass replica featuring a split strum bar allowing for simultaneous up/down strumming. This one is due on June 22nd and will sell for $69.99. A wireless version is due to come out in September.
• The wired guitar is also an officially licensed Fender product – a Fender Telecaster guitar replica. It features a programmable strum bar, quick response fret buttons and will sell for $79.99. No word on when it will be coming out
• The wired mic includes an integrated d-pad (yay!), face buttons, lock/unlock button, high profile pop stopper and will sell for $59.99. It’s supposedly out now
• The portable drum kit comes with quiet pads and foam tipped drumsticks. There will also be custom drum pad covers available for this setup. Expect it around July 15th for $49.99
• Finally, if you want the good stuff – there’s the high end premium wired drums which is designed after real electric drum sets. The unit has a high hat with foot pedal, crash cymbals, and fully adjustable drum heads with two axis motion. Expect this one in August for $149.99.

About the only complaint I have with these products is the fact that they’re not wireless to begin with. Come on folks.. make them all wireless by default!!!
