Samsung partners with Thomas Kinkade for Art-TV sets
Samsung announced yesterday that they have partnered with Thomas Kinkade Company to develop a prototype hybrid LCD TV system which combines the traditional elements of an HDTV set with a digital art display system. The system, dubbed the Digital Masterworks Art-TV set, is housed in a Thomas Kinkade frame designed to “accentuate the fine art theme.” The prototype Art-TV system measures 46 inches and allows users to view either preloaded digitally re-mastered Thomas Kinkade paintings or original 16×9 art digitally created by Thomas Kinkade.
The final production unit will feature a customizable touch screen to allow the user to modify overall image lighting or enhance specific colors. There will also be hidden touch controls that would allow users to electronically “flip” through their favorite images.
Specs for the Art-TV include:
- Wired or wireless connections
- 1080p resolutions
- 40 GB HDD
- 500 nit brightness
- 3000:1 contrast ratio
- 8 ms response time
The first production systems will become available late this year through any Thomas Kinkade Signature Gallery.
