CNET’s Crave UK has published pictures of the new Popcorn Hour A-100 media player here on their website. It’s not exactly a review of the unit but they do go ahead and mention that the unit “will play everything.” Yup.. that’s a far cry from devices such as Apple TV, or a Windows Media Center Extender. In fact, one of my co-workers actually got a hold of the A-100 himself and he claims the unit has indeed played everything he’s thrown at it. For $180 dollars, that’s not a bad deal indeed – although the system doesn’t come with a hard drive. No problems of course – for roughly $100 dollars, you can throw in a 500GB HDD, and store a good deal of content. About the only complaint I’ve heard about the Popcorn Hour is the somewhat slow user interface. I’m going to have to try this device out myself one of these days!!
