Apple receiving mysterious shipments – could it be the iPhone?
Want a way to monitor possible new product announcements from Apple? Track their import shipments! That’s what ImportGenius.com has been doing and they’re theorizing that based on recent import records the 3G iPhone should be coming out very soon – quite possibly during the June 9th World Developer’s Conference in San Francisco. Here’s a quote from ImportGenius.com:
By analyzing thousands of U.S. customs records for Apple Computer, employees of the search engine for container shipment data identified a major spike in imports generated by a new product type.
The new product type? “electric computers”. Quanta, one of the manufacturing companies rumored to be producing the next generation iPhone, began shipping these “electric computers” to the US on March 19th and has continued to do so to various locations in the U.S. Since the term “electric computer” has never been used to describe an Apple product before, there’s a theory that this could very well be the new iPhone. Given how much the iPhone actually performs, it’s easy to consider the device a “computer” rather than say a simple phone. Of course, this doesn’t indicate that the beginning of June would be the launch timeframe for the new iPhone but it does indicate something big is coming from Apple at some point in the near future.
