Samsung shows off several new displays at SID 2008
Samsung is showing off several new display products this week at the SID 2008 conference which runs from May 18th till the 23rd. The company introduced the industry’s first 82 inch LCD TV panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 at a 120Hz refresh rate. The display has a red/green/blue LED backlight which raises the true color saturation to 150 percent.
Samsung is also showing off an 82 inch “e-board” with a multi-touch screen. The 60Hz LCD panel is the largest panel of it’s kind with a multi-touch screen and is designed to replace whiteboards and beam projectors.
Other displays from Samsung include:
- multi-view digital information display (DID) which delivers 3D images without the need for special glasses.
- 40 inch full HD LCD TV panel which operates with only two source driver ICs instead of the normal six source drivers and three gate drivers. This will lower production costs and make LCD TVs more affordable to consumers
- 15 inch LCD with “blue phase mode”
- 2.3 inch e-paper with electrodes made from carbon nanotubes for enhanced “fold-ability”
