We found out late last month that MSI was planning to release an ultra-compact notebook to compete against the ASUS Eee PC called the MSI Wind. Details on the Wind were not known until now. The 10 inch system will utilize the Intel Atom processor and will have a display resolution of 1024 x 600. The Wind will come in two OS versions – a Novell Linux version and a Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition version.
The specs on the Linux version are as follows:
- Intel Atom processor
- Intel 945GMS and ICH7-M
- 10 inch LED display
- Integrated video
- 512MB of RAM
- 80GB HDD
- 3 cell battery lasting 2.5 hours
- 802.11 b/g wi-fi
- 1.3 megapixel webcam
- Measures 10.23 x 7.08 x 0.748 inches
- Weighs 2.3 lbs
The specs on the Windows XP Home Edition are as follows:
- Intel Atom processor
- Intel 945GMS and ICH7-M
- 10 inch LED display
- Integrated video
- 1GB RAM
- 80GB HDD
- 6 cell battery lasting 5.5 hours
- 802.11 b/g wi-fi
- 1.3 megapixel webcam
- Measures 10.23 x 7.08 x 0.748 inches
- Weighs 2.6 lbs
