T-Mobile started rolling out its 3G service on Monday with New York City being the first metropolitan area to receive it. The company plans on adding additional areas throughout the year with the majority of its customers covered by the end of the year. The new 3G network supports voice and data on the AWS bands (1700/2100 MHz). Only a few handsets currently offer support for the new 3G service including the Nokia 6263 and the Nokia 3555.
