I love the PSC47. And, I got it new several months ago for $40.00 including shipping. I use both HDMI and Optical cables for all of the devices connected to it including: HD HDMI Cable Box, Bluray player, XBOX360, etc.

I have never had a problem with the device nor do I need to leave it on all the time as mentioned in the story. Turning it on/off even in combination with changing input settings on the TV itself has never upset it.

Works as advertised and for the price, it cannot be beat! A+

I've had a Psyclone PSC-47 for nearly a year and a half now, and it has been flawless. In my case, since I have a Toshiba HD-DVD, a DirecTV HD-DVR, and a PS/3, as well as a Pioneer DVD recorder, all going into a single HDMI (actually a DVI with an HDMI adaptor on my Mitsubishi Diamond Series HD TV). In addition, since it is only a DVI input, I have to route the audio to my Denon AVR3802 receiver (which is now being used as a Pre/Pro fronting a B&K Ref 200.7 amp). Therefore, the only thing that I could find that had the capability of switching both HDMI IN ADDITION TO Optical, was the Psyclone PSC-47 unit. It would've came to about the same amount of money, if not more, if I got separate HDMI and Optical switcher components than just getting the Psyclone unit. The fact that the Psyclone is a nice component quality unit, with the customizable LCD display is just icing for me. Once I got it setup in my rig, it has been flawless. I do leave it on all the time to avoid the handshake issues, but than again, most of those other “lower end” units (at least the ones that I've seen), don't even have on/off. Also, yes, scrolling through the letters on the LCD can be a pain, but at least is is pretty much a “set it and forget it” type thing, thus the PITA step only has to be endured once. With that all said, I am about to drop $3,200 on a B&K Reference 70 Pre/Pro to replace the aging Denon AVR3802, which has no less than SIX HDMI inputs (not to mention support for all the new new high-def DVD surround-sound formats, such as TrueHD, etc). That receiver itself was a $1,200 receiver when I bought it some 7 years ago – and people b*tching about expensive receivers???!!?? Just wait till you get into fully separate component rigs! After that, I will not need the PSC-47, although I'll hang onto it in case I find myself needing to add more HDMI inputs again. In fact, even the PSC-47 in my current rig is out of inputs, as I would like to eventually add a dedicated Blue-Ray player and an XBox 360. I guess one reason why I am ready to just upgrade the whole damn receiver to a much higher-end dedicated pre-amp/processor to go with my current outboard amp.

I just purchased the Psychlone PSC47 to fix my HDMI issue with the WD TV and I love it! My only issue I have at the moment is getting my Harmony remote to quit trying to switch inputs on my TV when I switch between devices.

Apple TV and the PSC47 workin fine here. I recently simplified my home theater system…replacing all the high-end audio components with a Denon S-301 mini system and couldn't be happier. It only has one optical audio input (AUX3) so I bought the PSC47 so I could have optical audio from my Apple TV and Verizon FiOS converter going to the Denon. HDMI from all three units now goes to just one HDMI input on the TV and the entire system is controlled by a Harmony One (probably overkill since the PSC47 now does most all the switching. I find absolutely no signal loss in HDMI or Audio that I can ascertain and I have absolutely no problem at all between my Apple TV and the PSC47.

Thanks for the review – I have the EXACT same components that I wanted to hook up to the switch and you have saved me a ton of time getting everything just right (I suspected that the AppleTV may be an issue – it won't sync properly via HDMI directly connected to my Sharp TV, so I've had to connect it via component cables. ugh.).

I have an older Yamaha receiver without HDMI (and 3 HDMI inputs on my TV) so I need to use the TOSlink outputs to route audio to a single TOSlink input on my receiver. Rather than have three separate HDMI cables running up the wall to my TV, I can now have one HDMI cable connected and never have to switch video inputs (except for that bugger AppleTV) on the TV. I can also have one TOSlink cable running to a single input on my Receiver and never switch audio inputs as well. Of course switching between components on the TV and receiver is handled by my Harmony remote, but leaving everything on a single input leaves me LOTS of room for future components.

Again, thanks for a excellent review and the time saving tips. I'm off to buy the Psyclone PSC47!
